Kunda, Estratta, Montossé, Kanda!

This is the 2nd film in this 'The Evil Dead' universe spin-off, another sequel is already scheduled to release, 'Evil Dead Wrath' (2028).
While the film is a fun watch, it doesn't come close to the brilliance of the previous film, 'Evil Dead: Rise' (2023); the story is lacking, there are many of plot difficulties, some inconsistencies with the lore, and the film is not scary.
We really needed more characterization and development, we don't have stakes in these characters before the chaos ensues, so it's difficult to route for or against characters that you don't really know, like who cares if they die??
Yacoub’s performance really carries the film, we get to know more about her character but her ample trauma isn't really worked into the story well.
Lots of great gore in this film, some scenes will have you retching with disgust and you may even need to watch through your fingers for safety; probably could have used some more silly humour to make the violence more digestible.
The film was veering into thematic territory that really wasn't paired well with how the plot unfolded or explored in a way that made it core to the story, it was like a side story that didn't have to be there.
Overall, this is brutal blood soaked thrill ride we recommend watching, but we doubt you'll want to watch twice.

Directed by rookie Sébastien Vaniček, known for 'Infested' (2023), this is a breakout film for them.
