'Obssession' premiered at TIFF in 2025 and has mostly received praise and positive ratings.

We have tagged this as Genie, it has a similar story to 'Monkey's Paw' (1948), wherein a protagonist makes wishes with a cursed object.

Baker (director) said “I wanted to make a film that starts with something everyone can relate to — the fear of confessing feelings — and then twist it into something terrifying.” {moveablefest.com}

The most common keywords used in early reviews of 'Obsession' were dark, unsettling, creepy, bloody, funny, and horror.

Critics consistently emphasized its blend of psychological dread with moments of dark humour.

Directed by rookie Curry Baker, also known for 'Milk & Serial' (2024), we expect this to be a breakout film; Barker also has another film in the works, 'Anything But Ghosts' (2027).

'Obsession' cast features: Andy Richter, Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, and others.

'Obsession' will be in theatres May 15, 2026.
