At first glance, watching the trailer, this seems like a really dumb story idea that will make for lame film, but this actually turns out to be an endearing family sci-fi flick.
Some really cool creature design (when you finally get to see it) that we can't discuss without spoiling the mystery.
The acting is grounded and intimate, the family dynamic feels authentic, and the characters will to survive while breaking down mentally really resonates.
Set design is one of the film’s strongest elements: the house transforms from a safe domestic space into a decaying cage that visually mirrors the family’s unraveling.
The Last House isn’t loud or chaotic; it’s patient, unnerving, and soaked in atmosphere, delivering a haunting, water‑logged nightmare.
This is a family-friendly film, but parents should use their own discretion: there are multiple deaths, multiple animal deaths, and intense scary scenes that may give children nightmares.

Directed by Louis Leterrier, this is their first film in the horror genre and we hope they got a taste for it.
