This parody of the 'Paranormal Activity' franchise is still funny, the jokes are definitely from the time period of it's release, but we are sure you will be laughing out loud at the juvenile and crude humour.
Great performances, especially from Wayans, he commits hard to his role: physically, vocally, and energetically.
Atkins plays the straight‑man role well, grounding the chaos.
Swardson gives a memorable and comedic performance as the inappropriate gay psychic as well.
The film has surprisingly good effects and stunts that mirror the films they are spoofing.
If you enjoy 'Scary Movie' style (absurdity, slapstick, and exaggerated parody) comedy, this is a hilarious watch, we recommend watching with your friends under the influence.
Also mandatory that you watch the first three 'Paranormal Activity' films before watching this or you won't really get what they are making fun of.
If you don't enjoy that style of comedy, you will find this film exhausting, and that's okay, not everything is for you.

Directed by Michael Tiddes, this was their debut film and the first of many parody films, most recently they directed the 'Scary Movie' (2026) reunion film.

'A Haunted House' cast features: Marlon Wayans, Essence Atkins, Marlene Forte, David Koechner, Nick Swardson, Alanna Ubach, Andy Daly, and others.

The film does have a sequel, 'A Haunted House 2' (2014) which we do recommend you watch as well, it parodies the 'Sinister', 'Insidious', 'Conjuring', and 'Annabelle' paranormal franchises.
