Wolf Creek

2005

Original, Slasher, Thriller, Psychological, Road Trip, Gore, Horror, Torture, Based On True Story

'Wolf Creek' Plot Summary: Three backpackers stranded in the Australian outback are plunged inside a hellish nightmare of insufferable torture by a sadistic psychopathic local.

Young people going on a road trip, what could go wrong???
This serial killer thriller is not for the faint of the heart, an absolutely gruesome, violent, and stomach churning thrill ride.
The film takes place in the Australian Outback, a vast and desolate area of the continent far removed from the safety of urbanity, a classic 'fear of the backwoods' trope and great setting for a serial killer to be lurking.
This film is apart of a wave of 2000's horror films that were increasingly depicting realistic torture dubbed "torture porn" and even more disturbing, the story is based on real life crimes.
Jarratt gives a haunting performance as the charming and sadistic serial killer.
The gore is extreme, perhaps too extreme, we do not recommend eating while watching.
The film is mostly just silence with minimal score, and there is none of the usual comic relief audience expect in horror films, some viewers may find this film too intense.
Directed by Greg McLean, known for 'Rogue' (2007), 'The Belko Experiment' (2016), 'Jungle' (2017).
'Wolf Creek' cast features: Nathan Phillips, Cassandra Magrath, Kestie Morassi, John Jarratt, and others.
If you couldn't get enough of this film, we recommend the sequel 'Wolf Creek 2' (2013), but don't expect it to continue from the unresolved ending of the original.
*Trigger Warnings: forcible confinement, extreme violence, torture, drugging, and sexual assault.*
