'The Mummy' is really beautifully done film, the set design is especially gorgeous.
There is nothing scary in this film, it's more menacing, you have to imagine how terrified people in the 1930's would have been seeing this.
The Mummy doesn't really look like a Mummy, obviously they had a limited ability to make it look real, which is overcome in the plot.
It's funny at one point in the dialogue it's said that "The British Museum doesn't loot" because that is exactly what they did to cultures all over the world.
They also mention that the British are doing the archeology in Egypt because the Egyptians were not allowed, the Egyptian government has reversed that, today only Egyptians are allowed to do archeology in Egypt.
The film is just interesting enough to keep you watching, we would recommend putting this on the background while you carve pumpkins.

Directed by Karl Freund, who was also an uncredited director the year before on 'Dracula' (1931), unfortunately they did not make more horror genre films.

'The Mummy' cast features: Boris Karloff, Zita Johann, David Manners, Arthur Byron, and others.
*To be noted, none of the actors in the film are actually Egyptian, this was not considered inappropriate in the era this filmed was made.

There is a great remake, 'The Mummy' (1959), and then many other remakes that diverge in story and plot while carrying the spirit of this original.
