This must-see masterpiece created not only an iconic villain, but the horror satire genre, at a time when interest in horror was waning due to repetitive tropes, this film turned that on its head, cleverly making fun of tropes.

A franchise was born; all of the successive sequels make fun of what is popular in horror at the time of their release.

This film really captures the spirit of the 90’s, a total time capsule of culture.

This was the first-time audiences saw characters referencing pop culture, something that became very popular in hit tv shows like Gilmore Girls and Dawson’s Creek.

The film inadvertently created another genre, with the Scary Movie franchise being born from it, Parody Horror.

Despite being a comedy, the film also managed to be scary, with great creepy scenes, great twists, and great bloody deaths.

Directed by Wes Craven.

'Scream' cast features: Drew Barrymore, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Skeet Ulrich, Jamie Kennedy, Mathew Lillard, and others.
