Major themes, are the treatment of animals.
This film has a few scary scenes but overall isn’t very frightening.
Excellent cinematography gives this film a great atmosphere and is complimented by great CGI, and great sets (the western theme park town was moved to Universal Studios).
Parts of the chimpanzee story are based on real events, gruesome.
There is a lot of debate about what genre this film is? Horror? Western? Sci-fi? Its all of them.
The alien was largely based on jellyfish.
