An unsettling offbeat horror comedy that invites the audience into the mind of its deeply disturbed protagonist; a profoundly strange young woman who works at an animal hospital and has a creepy collection of dolls.
The film is reminiscent of other 2000s offbeat comedies like 'Napoleon Dynamite' (2004), that feature quirky characters and lots of randomness; but also horror classics like ' Carrie' (1976) and 'Psycho' (1960).
Great performances from Bettis and Sisto, however Faris’s familiar and over-the-top comedic persona occasionally clashes with the film's unique mood.
Having a murderous female protagonist and characters with depth is unusual in horror and refreshing.
The film is underscored by genuinely disturbing gore, if body horror makes you squeamish you may want to skip this one.

Directed by Lucky McKee, this was their debut film, also known for 'The Woods' (2006), 'The Woman' (2011), and 'All Cheerleaders Die' (2013).
