'Stay Alive' Plot Summary: After the brutal death of a friend, a group of friends find themselves in possession of a video-game called "Stay Alive," a blood-curdling true story of a 17th century noblewoman known as the Blood Countess. After playing the game when they know they shouldn't, however, the friends realize that once they die in the game, they die for real!
Another paranormal tech horror, these were wildly popular in the 2000's, and so were the young celebs in this horror flick.
The film has some pretty great set design, particularly the mansion, and the video game play incorporation will be nostalgic for Millennials.
Characters are thinly sketched but likable enough to root for, we wish they had a bit more depth to make their deaths feel more impactful.
Scariness is mild, more of a spooky adventure for teens than nightmare fuel, but the concept itself remains cool: die in the game, die for real.
Overall, the film is flawed but fun enough to watch, just don't have high expectations.
