It is a bit difficult to categorize this film which has some slight zombie and paranormal elements, but we are just gonna ignore those.
This is a sexy teen Slasher flick made for Slasher fans to really enjoy, reminiscent of many films that came before it, like a love letter to them.
We get an excellently crafted Villain, he reminds us of Jason Voorhees and Victor Crowley, but with his own distinct look and mannerisms, that is... when you finally get to see him.
There are many brutal and gory deaths, a few that are wildly unique and laughable, certainly not for the squeamish or faint of heart to watch, extremely grotesque.
The film has beautiful cinematography, a very unusual juxtaposition of stalking, murder, and the zen of nature; most of the film has no soundtrack, just the sounds of walking through the forest.
Full of classic tropes to make you giggle, like horny teens, irrational behaviours, and an oh so good campfire scene.
Fun fact: this film was shot twice, the first attempt was a total train wreck and nothing was salvageable. The biggest reason for the production failure was filming in the Canadian forest, likely why most horror films choose to film in human planted forests.
